PASIGHAT, Feb 15: The Mising community today celebrated Ali Aye Ligang with great pomp and show here at the Pasighat Gidii Notko, organized by the Ali Aye Ligang Celebration Committee-2023. Traditional dance form Gumrang was performed besides Taku Kubat (a ritual) by the chief guest, cultural presentations by various troupes, traditional games and sports and grand feast were major highlights of the day.
Joining the celebration, Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong, DC Tayi Taggu, SP Sumit Kr Jha and Adi-Mising Baane Kebang (AMBK) General Secretary Okom Yosung greeted the people and spoke on the occasion. People from all walks of life participated enthusiastically.
In their addresses, the MLA and DC asserted that unity between the Mising and Adi communities would always help in maintaining good relationship between Assam and Arunachal. Both the communities were maintaining strong bond of brotherhood laced with colorful culture and harmony, the duo added and further appealed the people to preserve the age-old culture in its truest form, preventing its dilution from the onslaught of modernity.
Stating Arunachal Pradesh is a land of fairs and festivals, the AMBK Secretary General Okom Yosung said Mising and Adi communities celebrate all joyous moment together and Ali Aye Ligang is the most vibrant festival of the Mising tribe, related to cultivation.
Among others, organizing President and General Secretary Devaram Doley and Mulai Pegu also spoke on the occasion.
