PASIGHAT, Dec 30: “Completion of five fruitful decades is a major landmark and a significant milestone in the odyssey of any educational institution. A jubilee of a school is an important event that gives us an opportunity to look backwards on the distance travelled and forward to the journey that lies ahead and has to be planed”. This was stated by educationist turned MLA of 36- Nari-Koyu, Kento Rina on Wednesday. Rina was gracing the Golden Jubilee celebration of Epo Padung Memorial Primary School (earlier known as Rotte LP School) under Koyu circle, Lower Siang district as Chief Guest. He while addressing a mammoth gathering here at the school play ground said it was a time to be grateful to the founder members and teachers who made hundreds of youthful lives. The mammoth growth of the school has not happened because of sheer chance. The molding and transforming of this institution into an institution of reckoning has been because of Late Epo Padung for dedicated and committed efforts for establishment of the primary school and the founder headmaster Rajani Kanta Chutia and also all the stakeholders who were associated with the school over a period of 49 years of its illustrious existence. “It is truly a matter of delight and pride, while the nation commemorates its Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, added the MLA. Before concluding his speech, Rina urged all to be more creative and aggressive in trying to accomplish more for its progressive growth, moving to its future that is shiny and bright and glittering in its fullest glory.
Guest of Honour, Marken Kadu, Director of School Education said the school is as good as its students, past students, as good as its past teachers and the present teachers and staff members. It’s neither a child’s play nor a Sunday gardening to complete successfully 50 long years. Such a team spirit, team working and team building is evident here at this great school and it rightly deserves appreciation and I extend my warmest greetings for a memorable golden era and beyond. He called upon the students to be punctual, disciplined and sincere in studies and urged the teachers to spend little extra time and care with the students on grooming them. Hard work is the only key to success. The hard work put in never goes waste and will be timely and deservingly be rewarded, added Kadu.
Earlier, the Organizing Chairman of the celebration Dr. Ture Koyu briefed about the esteemed contributions of the founder members of school in particular and the Rotte village in general. Among others, Lower Siang DDSE Marte koyu, Special Guest Nyagom Padung, ZPM, Koyu circle, Rotte HGB Taken Diyum and retired DDSE Dakken Koyu an Er. Tate Padung also spoke on the occasion.
