PASIGHAT, Feb 9: The 3rd meeting of Regional Committees for interstate boundary of East Siang (AP) and Dhemaji district (Assam) was held recently at Hotel Ratnamouli Palace, Guwahati (Assam). With successful culmination of the Regional Committee meeting, the longstanding interstate boundary issues within East Siang District have been resolved, informed East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu today.
The MLA-cum-Chairman of the Regional Committee, East Siang District (Arunachal Pradesh) Ninong Ering and Cabinet Minister (Assam)-cum-Chairman of Regional Committee, Dhamaji District (Assam) Jayanta Malla Baruah, DC East Siang Tayi Taggu, DC Dhemaji AK Bhattacharya and the members of both the committees after threadbare discussion on the reports of East Siang and Dhemaji administrations, and on examination of the existing settlements along the interstate boundary, arrived at a resolution and adopted the mutually agreed upon boundary line with geo-coordinates as the interstate boundary line, acceptable by both the committees.
From East Siang (AP), the historic meeting was also attended by ADC Mebo-cum-Nodal Officer (Border Affairs) Ainstein Koyu, CO Namsing Radhe Tatung, AMBK GS and VP Okom Yosung and Mojit Pao respectively and Mondal John Panyang.
Minister (Assam) Dr. Ronuj Pegu, Jonai MLA Bhubon Pegu, Principal Secretary G.D. Tripathi, Commissioner and Secretary Assam Akash Deep, Secretary Prabhati Thaosen, CEM (MAC) and EM Parmananda Chayengia and Raju Medok respectively represented Assam.
Expressing his extreme happiness over the development, DC Taggu asserted that the long pending boundary issues between Dhemaji district of Assam and East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh was successfully resolved. Agreement signed in Guwahati wouldn’t have been possible without hard-work of Health Minister (AP) Alo Libang, MLAs Ninong Ering and Lombo Tayeng, ADCs Ainstein Koyu and Tajing Jonnom, COs Tadhe Tatung and Oyam Saring and their associates, AMBK executives Okom Yosung, Raju Medok and Mojit Pao, said Taggu. It was friction point to ignite more problems and miseries, he stated adding that efforts of all will always be remembered by the people of both the districts, ushering a new era of cordial relationship with the neighboring state.
