PASIGHAT, 12 Sept’2025: Under the ongoing Operation Dawn 2.0, the East Siang Police successfully apprehended one drug peddler and seized approximately net 9.69 grams( medium quantity) of suspected heroin.
Acting on credible intelligence, the ADS East Siang team apprehended one peddler from Yagrung Village, namely Shri Gonong Taloh, S/o Mr Ojing Taloh of Vill. Yagrung Pasighat.
The operation was meticulously planned by the ADS of East Siang in coordination with Anti-Drugs Warriors, Pasighat. An undercover buyer was deployed to approach the peddler, following which the accused, Gonong Taloh, who has long been involved in the illicit sale of narcotics, was caught red-handed.
The operation was led by ADS Incharge, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ayup Boko, and included SI K. Tangha, Ct. K. Perme, Ct K Ninu, in close coordination with Anti-Drugs Warriors, Pasighat.
The seizure was conducted in strict compliance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Miss Oter Gao. During the house search, the following items were recovered and seized in the presence of independent witnesses:
1. 9.67 grams of suspected heroin
2. Cash amounting to ₹17,800/-
3. 06(Six) tobacco containers
4. 03 (Three) transparent Vials
5. 23 live cartridges (12 Gauge, 70 mm)
6. One Smartphone
The apprehended individual, along with the seized items, was brought to Pasighat Police Station and handed over to the OC, PS Pasighat.
Accordingly, a case has been registered vide PSGT/PS/C/No.76/2025 U/S 21(b) NDPS Act R/W Sec. 25 (1-B)(a) Arms Act at Pasighat Police Station. Investigation is currently underway following the arrest of the accused.
Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Shri Pankaj Lamba, IPS, commended the efforts of the ADS team and reiterated the district police’s firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related offenses. He further urged the public to report any such illicit activities, stressing that community cooperation is vital to ensuring a drug-free East Siang.
