PASIGHAT, September 15, 2025:
The month long Diploma in Yoga Education, an intensive residential course,
successfully concluded in Pasighat with a formal graduation ceremony held on
Sunday, September 14th at Seva Bhawan. The academic program was organized by
Siang Trust under the aegis of Manipur International University (Imphal), with
faculty support from Yog Gurukul Asom (Guwahati).
A
total of eleven trainees, including seven women from seven districts of
Arunachal Pradesh, completed the rigorous training and are now qualified to
serve as certified Yoga teachers. The curriculum focused on practical and
theoretical aspects of human anatomy and Yog, including Asanas (physical
postures), Pranayam (breathing techniques), and Dhyan (concentration
techniques).

Tapi Darang, Hon’ble MLA 38th Pasighat East, graced the graduation ceremony as
the Chief Guest and awarded diplomas to the successful trainees. In his
address, he emphasized the importance of adopting the threefold path of Yog for
a healthy, peaceful, and disease-free life. He lauded the efforts of the
organizers and encouraged more such initiatives to strengthen community
wellbeing through traditional wellness systems and ensured his support to the noble
endeavours of Siang Trust.
Sharing
their experience, the trainees expressed that the course had brought about a
complete transformation in their lifestyle, mindset, and understanding of
holistic health.
Prof.
Bhabesh Goswami, Head of Yog Gurukul Asom, Guwahati, was present as the Special
Guest and appreciated the dedication of the participants.

Captain Mohonto Panging Pao, VM (Retd), President of Siang Trust, presented a
brief report outlining the objectives and service initiatives of the Trust
since its inception in 2018. He highlighted the Trust’s dedicated efforts in
promoting Yoga through various means, including the organization of Diploma
courses in Yog Education and leading Yoga programs during the International Day
of Yoga. These initiatives, he noted, reflect the Trust’s ongoing commitment to
community well-being and the revival of traditional wellness practices. The
event was attended by several eminent and respected personalities, including
Shri Kaling Dai (Former ZPC, East Siang), Shri Onyok Pertin (Former Director,
IPR), Dr. Saibal Bhattacharjee (Former Joint Director, Health & Family
Welfare), Dr. Kaling Dai (Joint Director, Health & Family Welfare), Dr.
Tajom Tasung (President, Donyi Polo Yelam Kebang), Dr. Runi Tasung and Dr Dangi
Perme. The Diploma in Yoga Education is planned to be conducted every year. The
successful completion of this program marks a significant step in promoting
Yoga education in Arunachal Pradesh and empowering local youth—particularly
women—to become torchbearers of wellness and traditional knowledge in their
communities.
