PASIGHAT, Jan.29: The Arunachali students of College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF),Pasighat celebrated the Pre-Nyokum Festivals here on Saturday(Jan.28) with traditional fervour and enthusiasm.
Addressing as the Chief Guest, Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, GoAP, Shri Techi Bida, while extending his festival greetings , narrated the significance of celebrating the agricultural festival of Nyokum Yullo by the Nyishi Tribe for peace & prosperity of mankind and for bountiful harvest
He urged the young generations to carry forward their rich cultural heritage and folk traditions for posterity. He also lauded the students for collectively celebrating the festivals with the spirit of brotherhood and unity in diversity. Bida further urged the students to focus on their academic studies as their top priority and make their Institution and society proud of their achievements.
Dean CHF, Dr.B.N. Hazarika, Dean College of Agriculture (CoA), Dr. AK Tripathy ,faculty members and staff, CHF students, and Nyishi brethren residing in Pasighat and Nyishi students of JNC, College of Agriculture (CoA) , Govt. Nursing College amongst others also attended the traditional celebration.
Earlier, the welcome address was extended by Pema Naksang as the festival committee President. The festival organising Committee was led by President Pema Naksang alongwith Nabam Aru (overall Incharge) and Yakum Gyadi as Organising Chairperson.
As part of the celebration, Colorful Nyishi Folk dance performances by CHF students , solo dance by Tarh Anya and adding more colour to the event , Naga Folk dance was also presented for the gathering . The traditional Nyishi community “Buya Dance” was also joined by the Guests and students along with organising community feast to mark the festive celebration.
